Instructions
-
In Step 1, enter the input parameters.
-
DC Current is the full load or peak bias current. Enter zero
if there is no bias current.
-
Peak Current Inductance is the inductance required with full
load bias current plus ripple current.
-
Specified Current is any RMS or bias current of interest.
-
Click the Find Part Numbers
button to show suggested Magnetics® cores in the
Magnetics Part Numbers box that fit the input
parameters.
-
In Step 2, enter one of the suggested Magnetics
Part Numbers (or any valid Magnetics part number). Click the
Design Output button to see
the results in the Design Output box.
-
In the Adjust section, you may adjust turns, wire
size, or wire strands if desired by entering new number. When
finished, click the
Design Output button in
Step 2.
-
The default wire selection is only for 1 strand. Software is
based on current density of 500 Amps/cm². When the current is
larger than 66.5 Amps, the default wire will be 6 AWG for 1
strand. Please consider using multiple wires when current or
frequency is high.
